Just made a donation to the Obama campaign!  → wantthepharaohs.tumblr.com

wantthepharaohs:

I donated in 2008 and again this year. Both my donations have been small, but that’s one of the things I really like about the way Obama has run his campaign, emphasizing that every little bit helps and everyone can contribute and be a part. The election of President Obama is one of the few things that has genuinely made me proud of my country, and I am glad to support his re-election.

Donations can be made here, and I encourage you to do so if you can! :)

And today’s a good day to do it, because it’s FEC deadline day (we celebrate with bagels and insomnia). Here’s where you can pitch in $3.

“We know this about Mitt Romney…he’s not a job creator. When he was governor of Massachusetts, they were 47th out of 50 in job creation. His experiences in downsizing and outsourcing jobs and bankrupting companies and walking away with a lot of money for himself. His economic ideas are the failed economic ideas that we tried for eight years…their message is: You didn’t clean up our mess fast enough.” —Top Obama adviser Robert Gibbs, on Meet the Press Sunday.

Hey Obama team, I wanted to thank you guys again for making that graphic available on tumblr! My brother and I both attend university in California and tuition has risen every year. In July, it rose to another 9% on top of another 8% in November. We were incredibly lucky that the both of us had Pell grants to cover some of the expenses and that graphic completely hit home for me when I saw it on twitter! I'm glad users here have been just as responsive in their comments. Keep up the great work!

You’re welcome, and yay for Pell Grants (which, we should note, the president doubled funding for).

Planned Parenthood is on Tumblr!

plannedparenthood:

Planned Parenthood is excited to be launching our new Tumblr that’s all about sexual and reproductive health – bodies, birth control, relationship issues, “is it normal for this to do this?” type things. In the coming weeks and months we’ll be sharing what we know, answering questions, and just… tumblring.

We hope you like it! And we hope it helps.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Hey Obama team! Is there any way you could post on tumblr the Pell grant graphic you guys posted on twitter? It's the tweetpic from April 27. I'd love to have it on my blog as well. Thanks for the great work!

Yes we can.

“Let’s move forward, not backward. I believe in young people and I’m going to fight for you.” —President Obama on why young Americans should vote for him, in 140 characters or less

“The recession, which devastated auto sales, brought the company to the brink of financial ruin. Chrysler and its financing arm needed $12.5 billion from U.S. taxpayers to survive. When a government auto task force deadlocked on whether to save the collapsing company, the tie was broken by President Barack Obama.

Then things turned around. Chrysler got the bailout, cut costs in bankruptcy and saw sales improve with the economy. It worked overtime to revamp 16 of its models to make them more appealing to consumers. The results have paid off. Sales have increased steadily through 2011 and into 2012.”

“For the first eight years of our marriage, [Michelle and I] were paying more in student loans than what we were paying for our mortgage. So we know what this is about.

And we were lucky to land good jobs with a steady income. But we only finished paying off our student loans—check this out, all right, I’m the President of the United States—we only finished paying off our student loans about eight years ago.”

“

Tonight, Senate Republicans voted to block the Buffett Rule, choosing once again to protect tax breaks for the wealthiest few Americans at the expense of the middle class.

The Buffett Rule is common sense. At a time when we have significant deficits to close and serious investments to make to strengthen our economy, we simply cannot afford to keep spending money on tax cuts that the wealthiest Americans don’t need and didn’t ask for. But it’s also about basic fairness—it’s just plain wrong that millions of middle-class Americans pay a higher share of their income in taxes than some millionaires and billionaires.

One of the fundamental challenges of our time is building an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules. And I will continue to push Congress to take steps to not only restore economic security for the middle class and those trying to reach the middle class, but also to create an economy that’s built to last.
