Donated to a political campaign for the first time...
osongbird:
As a recent college grad, I don’t have much to give. I hadn’t given before because I thought my $10 wouldn’t make a difference, and I would volunteer and contribute in other ways. But if everyone who thought that same thing donated their $10, $20 or even just $5 anyway, it probably would make a difference.
I’ve got much more than a few dollars to lose if Romney wins this election....

Oh Mitt, saying that the best feeling I had about...
mykicks:
The best feeling I had about Obama was when he signed a law expanding health care coverage to millions of Americans.
The best feeling I had about Obama was when he helped make sure that everyone brave enough to serve in the military can do so openly.
The best feeling I had about Obama was when he said that everyone should be able to marry whomever they love.
I barely remember the act...

The very fact that women’s healthcare is becoming a political platform to be kicked about, and that male politicians feel that it is their place to decide for us what we can do with our bodies, is, at the very least, appalling.
My body, my choice.
I know who I’m voting for in November.

Thank you, Mr. President,
saintvalentino:
For making sure that my birth control (which I’m taking for both contraceptive and several medical purposes) is $6, not $60 or $600. While that’s not free, it certainly is affordable.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
One of your biggest fans.

I just turned 18 this year, and my first presidential vote will be for Barack Obama. There are a lot of reasons, but this is the condensed version:
I am going to college this year - in fact, I just finished my last high school course last week. My mom is currently going back to school herself and going into loan and credit card debt, and my dad and his wife live...

I support Obama because my parents are public school teachers. I know firsthand that teachers are some of the hardest-working individuals out there, and they don’t have the salaries to prove it. My older sister recently went to college to earn an English degree. While she received a scholarship, it’s taking a huge toll on our family’s funds for her to be able to learn...

One Issue Voter
jemappellery submitted:
In my first presidential election, I am what they call a one-issue voter. I didn’t think I would be; when I started looking seriously at the candidates, I thought things like economic policy, the war in Afghanistan and gay rights would be things I would seriously consider.
They weren’t. It came down to the Affordable Care Act. As a college student with a pre-existing,...

There are two major reasons I am voting for Obama:
1. As a woman, I have the right to make my own health care decisions. Congress has no place making those decisions FOR me.
2. I am a student who doesn’t have the option of asking parents for money. My father has been on SSDI for most of my life, and my mother (who was also on SSDI) passed away in October. As it stands,...
